The Gallery: 60th Anniversary News Clippings of the Week

Thanks to William Glynn and the current Woovit staff, we received lots of scans from the WUVT archives during the 60th Anniversary Weekend.

Most of the clippings you'll see are from the student newspaper The Virginia Tech (now the Collegiate Times). The first clipping of our series is from 1947, annoucing a new radio station:

The clipping below is a partial one. It's a continuation of a story, or a "jump" as they say in the newspaper biz. The first part of the article has apparently been lost to the ages, but we thought you'd like to see that one of the dreams back in '48, "There are hopes of eventually extending facilities to cover Blacksburg", was finally realized with the sign-on of WUVT-FM on October 6, 1969. (By the way, check out that 87 cume rating!)

Above clipping is from November, 1948.
